The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been rampant.
The first season presents a diverse group of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds accompanied by songs about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain themes emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the creator commented earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season moves, and how many of what they're waiting for unfolds now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — especially in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a couple people create a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
